About Oil Theft Watch

Oil Theft Watch is a FREE, not-for-profit service designed to help heating oil users in the UK protect their oil supply, by alerting them to thefts in their area.

The first nationwide service of its kind, the website was founded by independent heating oil price comparison site BoilerJuice in 2012, as a response to the rise in heating oil thefts over the past few years.

What Does Oil Theft Watch Do?

As anyone who has suffered from heating oil theft knows, it can be an extremely upsetting and costly experience. Oil Theft Watch aims to reduce the number of heating oil crimes, by alerting oil users to thefts in their area and encouraging them to take steps to protect their oil supply.

As well as offering advice on oil tank security, we compile data from oil theft reports across the UK to create a one-stop shop where heating oil users can view up-to-date theft statistics for any area of the UK, at the click of a button.

We also offer a free email bulletin, which alerts our members every time there is a heating oil theft reported in their postcode area.

Why Should I Sign up For Theft Alerts?

As there are usually a number heating oil users in an area, thieves tend to target several properties over a short period of time, rather than hitting just one home. By signing up to our theft alert bulletin, you will know as soon as a theft is reported in your area, and can take extra measures to secure your tank and protect your oil supply.

How Can I Report a Theft?

We strongly encourage anyone who has been a victim of heating oil theft to report the crime as soon as possible.

Our theft report form is easy to fill out and totally anonymous. Simply complete the online form with as much detail as possible and a theft alert email will be issued to registered oil users in your area.

By reporting the theft, you can raise awareness and help prevent other oil users in your village from becoming victims of heating oil theft.
